Thurday Thirteen #22- 13 things I like/love that start with the letter “K”

Here are 10 things I like/love that start with the letter “K”, and since I thought of 13, it's also my Thursday 13!
OK, let me think... I know if I try hard enough, I can come up with 10.

1. Kindness- though people irritate me sometimes... I always try to show some courtesy and kindness. Whether it's opening a door for someone, or just giving a smile, Kindness tops my list. Even though I have been known to rant a little. :O)

2. Kisses- I enjoy all types of kisses. Big people kisses, little people kisses, and really wet lick-kisses from fur-kids. I do not, however, enjoy lick-kisses from people of any kind.

3. Kids - I love mine especially! I thought John and I would never know the joys of having children, but we are blessed.

4. Kites- I really enjoy a blustery fall or spring day, and a good kite fly. I usually end up running it into the ground with a horrendous nose dive, but it's still a lot of fun.

5. Keane- I love their music, so melancholy and sincere.

6. Warren Kimble- I would say that my tastes run towards country and folk art and Warren Kimble is one of my favorites.

7. Kahlua - Do I need to explain? OK, coffee flavored alcohol. YUM!

8. Krispy Kreme- In all its yeasty, doughnutty variations. Especially if it has chocolate.

9. Kona- COFFEE! Grown in Hawaii!

10. Kailani- Who tagged me for this meme, one of my best blogging buddies, also grown in Hawaii. :D

11.
Isreal Kamakawiwo'ole- Seems like I have a Hawaiian theme going here :D. I love his music... serene and heart wrenching all at the same time. Just Beautiful. You can listen to clips here, including his renowned version of Over The Rainbow.

12. Georgia O'Keeffe- I know it's a stretch, but I am running out of K's! I developed a strong love for Georgia and her life's work as a teen, because of my art teacher. Mrs. Weidelle was another very important role model in my life, and I had her for art for four years straight. Mrs. Weidelle loved me like a daughter, and put up with a lot of lip and crap from yours truly. Because of her, I grew to love Georgia's softness and depth, but also her rough edges. Georgia epitomizes everything I would love to be as an artist, and she is my all time favorite.

13. Kimchi- A Korean dish of fermented cabbage. It's pickled and spicy... YUM! I loved this before I even lived in California, where I was fortunate enough to work with a variety of heritages and people including Thai, Filipino, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, Korean, Cambodian... Potlucks at work were heaven! But before then, my step-dad was stationed in Korea for 2 years with the Air Force (the longest 2 years of my life), and he came home with many wonderful and beautiful things including some hand made satin quilts, but he also came home with a passion for kimchi. My dad made new friends there, and one of his new friends happened to get stationed close by after my dad came home. We often had kimchi in our fridge, and my dad (who loved his spicy food) was loving enough to share his kimchi with me. :O) Now, all I can find is Kimchi soup bowls, not nearly the same, but it will do in a pinch. I would have to say that kimchi, as corny as it sounds... warms my belly and my heart when I can find it.

***Bonus!

14. Karianne-
I forgot about my blogging buddy from Practicing Contentment! :O) Silly me. Karianne is a constant source and example of kindness and care. I always enjoy reading about what is going on in her neck of the woods, and she has a killer recipe for Sausage, Peppers and Pasta. *drool*

15. Kitties- how the heck could I forget kitties? Thanks Maggie for pointing that out. :D You know I love me some fur-kids.

Hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Evening. We had a lovely visit with our doctor - blood panels, EKG, you name it - are we getting old or what? Now I'm TT surfing and eating chocolate; now THAT'S celebrate Valentine's Day!

Mert Mert Mert! You forgot Kitties.

Crse said you where up early or maybe she is up late. LOL. Did you sleep last night?

Krispy Kremes are a god to me. I worship them. :( however they closed the only one within driving distance of where we live. We was so disappointed. Sometimes on a quiet afternoon we'd sneak out and go get two boxes. One to eat in the car alone "adult only" and one to bring back to the rugrats.

Nice TT! I especially liked 4, 8, and 12. It's been too long since I've flown a kite. What a great stress reliever.

K for Kerry - I love my pal Kerry and I wish her all the luck developing her burlesque act! I might have to get one of those linky widgets for my thursday 13....

Fun 13! I love kimchi, too! Every time I eat kimchi, I get warm fuzzies (it reminds me of my mom!) Well, maybe it's the chilis or the garlic... :)

Happy T13!

Very Klever! I'm gonna have to shoot off now swifly though, as you've sparked my boyfriend off thinking of words beginning with K and he's driving me rapidly krazy!

Happy TT.

What a fun list! I may have to do a list like that soon. My list of the most recent DVD's that I've seen is up too. Please stop by, everyone.

Oh my gosh! Kimchi is the nastiest smelling stuff! We have 2 jars in the fridge right now, and dh can only eat it when he plans to sleep on the couch! UGH! Nasty!!!! (no, I've never tasted it)
We get it in jars at the grocery stores.

Well, what a very clever list! I especially like all the red k's. It kind of reminds me of an episode of "Married With Children" when Kelly saw somewhere that a car cost 25,000K so she was cutting k's out of magazines and the newspaper.

I think I smell a new blog idea. Pick a new letter each week and blog about it or with it or whatever! Kind of like Scattergories.

Great list!

How cute!! I have a good friend who has a daughter named Kailiana.

K is a tough letter. Every time I play Scattergories and I get a K, I know I'm doomed. Thanks for visiting my TT.

Well, I didn't participate in Thursday Thirteen this week, I just don't have the time right now.

Anyway, I love the letter K, too. My name even starts with a K. :)

A great list there!!

great list, Mert!

of course, kisses and kids have to be on the list! :o)

happy thursday!

Great list, Mert! And I love your blog! I will be back. I tend to be the optimist in our marriage, while my husband is the pessimist, but after 21 years, we have come to balance eachother out very nicely. I, too like the alphabet idea for TT, as dk mentioned. I'll have to keep that in mind when I hit a wall in trying to come up with an idea which is happening more often as the years collect. *smile* God Bless!!

OK, that had to be a challenge to come up with K things you like. How about for you...KUDOS! ;)
