It's beautiful- and I read the story behind it. Tattoos are not for me, but I don't see anything wrong with them. Hope you make the right choice for you!

It's pretty. But not the kind I would want on Mrs. Jim but maybe it's the one she would want. [Hint, a little heart in a not obvious spot.]
That is the thing about tatoos, it makes a statement that 'this is my body and I can do what I want with it.'
Mine would be on my ankle or upper arm and not very large. I would rather have an ear ring and a pony tail, that would make a louder statement.
Happy WW! Thanks for the visit and comment. Adi is my granddog. She has lived with us for ten of her eleven years.

Oh wow, what a great story! See what i miss when I cant load your page? I have a tattoo you know. Just one. And I got it almost 15 years ago and i totally dont regret it. Its small and beautiful and reminds me of something very important every time I look at it. I hope you do this buddy. I really do.

Wow. Of course, I had to go read the story. I have a tattoo of a purple frog on my right ankle and I love it. Just make sure you love it is the only advice I'll offer. As for your choice, it's beautiful and I personally think you would enjoy it!

Very artistic! How big is it going to be and where are going to have it done?

That is the main reason that kept me from having one... the location! LOL

Happy WW! :-)

It looks very nice "now" but when you are 70 or 80, I think it would be a little wrinkled, lol !

I plan on getting the tattoo on my lower back, and it will be about 4.5 inches. I may go smaller depending on price or if I find a different lotus design I like better. I like this one because it has a nice flow to it and I like how the vines and leaves balance it out. plus I love the vibrant colors.

I hear that the lower back is very painful because there isn't much padding there, BUT on the other hand I picked the lower back because it's discreet and isn't prone to sagging.

I never actually thought I wold get one because the hubs has been very vocal about not liking them, but he is being very supportive since he has had some time to get used to the idea, and he actually admitted to me once that he thought that lower back tatts are kind of sexy. :)

Glad to hear the married minds are meshing on this one. It's a pretty flower and I love the colors too...so educate me...what's the symbolism behind the lotus?

Hugs,
Holly

The symbolism (quoted from this site):
In modern times the meaning of a lotus flower tattoo ties into it's religious symbolism and meaning. Most tattoo enthusiast feel that the a lotus tattoo represent life in general. As the lotus flower grows up from the mud into a object of great beauty people also grow and change into something more beautiful (hopefully!). So the symbol represent the struggle of life at its most basic form.

Lotus flower tattoos are also popular for people who have gone through a hard time and are now coming out of it. Like the flower they have been at the bottom in the muddy, yucky dirty bottom of the pond but have risen above this to display an object of beauty or a life of beauty as the case might be. Thus a lotus flower tattoo or blossom can also represent a hard time in life that has been overcome.

When I first thought of what I would get, the lotus flower came to mind... then when i looked up the symbolism, it just seemed perfect for me.
