Thursday 13 # 17, You know you're getting old when...

I seem to have a morbid fascination with aging lately,
so in the spirit of it all, here are...

Thirteen Things about knowing you're old.

1.When you groan while bending over, and your butt "talks back".

2.While giving you a "mommy make over", your 5 year old gives you a comb-over to cover those gray streaks at the temples- you know... the ones that you thought were so darn sexy- because you have "lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of gray hair, mommy".

3.You fall asleep before your kids do.

4.You don't watch TV for entertainment anymore, you watch the History and Discovery channels because it's "interesting".

5.When you say "I laughed so hard, I peed a little" and actually mean it.

6.All the stupid things your parents said to you as a kid start to make sense. (If all of your friends jumped off of a cliff, would you do that too?)

7.Your prescriptions cost more than your groceries.

8.When you start saying " What's wrong with the kids these days?"...

9.And you can't stand to listen to the local Pop station.

10.Instead of reminiscing about your love life when you were a teen, you start to realize that one day... IN 7 YEARS *gasp* your kids will be teens too.

11.You can actually laugh at your own fashion faux pas while looking at photos.

12.You manage to roll over on your own (males and females respectively) *"hangy-downies" while turning over in bed.

And most recently...

13.Your 5 year old tells you that you're "not AS ugly with make up on".

As said by Mark in a Once Upon a Blog comment, who heard it from marmite breath...:O)

I see I got credited with "hangy-downies" - that isn't actually mine, I picked it up from marmite breath in a Mama Drama comment. Credit should be given, where credit is due. :)

Some of those are hilarious. ;) And about #5... is it too early to be experiencing that?

I am hoping that peeing my pants has nothing to do with getting older and actually stems from having babies come out of my body. (that makes me feel better - because I can't blame any of the other 12 things on that).

LOL! This is such a great list. The Discovery channel one is great. I also find myself prefering certain cartoons over others. And not for any parental reason either. I LIKE watching them.

Time to get out more...

Fun list! I like watching the Discovery Channel since they often have shows about animals, but I'm still a kitten - only 6 months old!

Thanks for stopping by.

Ohhhh, I'm getting old. I can relate to most of those. Usually when I bend over and then get up, my knees talk back to me and it's hard to get up! LOL

My 13 are up.

Aw, those are funny, and some kind of sad.

I am only in my 20's and my prescriptions (migraine) probably could cost more than a week of groceries. Seriously.

Wonderful list. I'll have to copy this idea. I have my own list.

All 13 are dead-on correct. My daughters have told their mother, "You're not going to wear THAT are you?!" instead of the "not as ugly..." line you got.

Thank heaven I'm not that old--I only have some of those and I'm not telling which ones.

Can I skip the mommy comb over and still move on to old age? I'd like to have some dignity as my wrinkles get bigger 0;)

I'm frightened - truly frightened - that I can relate to some of those.

LOL. This gave me a good laugh. I seem to be getting like all of these lol. Except the mommy thing that is.

Oh crap... I am so old. And my daughters are 7 & 11 so teen-dom is much closer for me. ICK. I still think I'm cool though. That might be a problem ;-)

Great list! I'm here from Geekwif's T13. I would add this: When things hurt and you don't remember injuring them.

When you realize the bartender you just ordered a diet coke and amaretto from was born after you graduated from high school.

my T13 is up... shows to love and hate on cable tv.

I can totally relate to some of these but I'm not saying which ones! LOL!
